A reason for pardon

I’m a Republican, but I think President Biden was absolutely correct in granting a pardon to his son. Had Hunter gone to prison, some nutball would probably have attacked him and claimed “revenge” for some imagined wrong. And what could they do to the nutball? Send him to jail? I don’t agree with the president very often, but in this case, I think he was correct.
