Girls basketball roundup: Fremd’s rally falls short; Prospect tops Libertyville in 2 OTs; Maine West hands Leyden 1st loss
At the Lake Zurich Exam Jam:
Kenwood 70, Fremd 66: The Vikings (8-2) trailed by 20 and stormed back to close to within four, but fell short. Ella Todd had 28 and Coco Urlacher had 24 for the Vikings.
Glenbrook South 50, Rolling Meadows 37: Glenbrook South (5-3) handed the Mustangs (7-1) their first loss of the season. Nell Osterhues and Abby Rammel each had 12 points for Meadows.
Maine South 47, Lake Zurich 39: Maine South (7-2) pulled out of an 8-1 hole and upended the host Flames (4-4). Ally Pape led the way with 19 points and 5 rebounds while Asia Kobylarczyk 10 points and 5 rebounds for Maine South. Alex Novak-Tice had 14 points and Leah Gilbertson 12 points for Lake Zurich.
Montini 42, Hersey 32: With the game tied at 30-30 after three quarters, Montini (6-3) turned up the defensive pressure for the win. Nikki Kerstein led Montini with 21 points while Natalie Gartlin had 12 points. Kiki Craft and Sadie Marks each had 11 for Hersey (6-3).
Carmel 45, Hampshire 38: Carmel (4-4) limited Hampshire (1-7) to 5 points in the final quarter to pick up the win. Carmel was led by Maia Cordova with 14 points while Josie Hartman and Maliyah Mays each had 13 points. Chloe Van Horn led Hampshire with 10 points.
Prospect 59, Libertyville 55 (2 OT): Zoe Black had 21 points and Allison Linke 15 as the Knights (6-2) prevailed. Libertyville (6-3) was paced by Lily Fisher’s 25 points.

Lakes 59, Grayslake North 40: Lakes (3-4, 1-1) drilled 7 three-pointers to knock off Grayslake North (1-9, 0-3). Kaylee Anderson had 13 points, Adey Martin 12 and Kaylie Schneider 11 in the win.
Grayslake Central 58, Round Lake 20: Madison Hoffmann had 18 points and 6 rebounds and Annie Wolff 10 points and 6 steals as the Rams (7-3, 2-0) rolled.
Maine West 38, Leyden 30: Maine West (3-5) handed Leyden (8-1) its first loss. Maine West was led by Ava Robek’s 14 points and Kaitlyn Nutley’s 10 points. Katherine Macleod led Leyden with 15 points.
Mundelein 75, Zion-Benton 12: Casey Vyverman had 26 points as the Mustangs rolled.
