No injuries in Lombard house fire Saturday
No one was hurt -- and firefighters were able to limit damage to a Lombard home -- during a fire Saturday evening.
The Lombard Fire Department responded to a home on the 500 block of W. Harrison Road around 6 p.m. after neighbors reported seeing flames on the side of the house.
Lombard police arrived on the scene first and helped a woman and her pets escape from the home.
Firefighters arrived to find the chimney on fire and were able to bring it under control in seven minutes before it spread to other parts of the house.
Officials estimate the damage was roughly $75,000. While some firefighting water reached the basement, the home remains habitable.
The Lombard Fire Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the fire.
Lombard firefighters received assistance at the scene from the Elmhurst and Villa Park fire departments, Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company and Addison and York Center fire protection districts.
