Lake County man charged in knife attack at motel

A Lake County man is facing aggravated battery charges after a knife attack Friday at a residential motel near Libertyville.

Lake County sheriff’s officials said 54-year-old Javier Moran and another resident of the motel on the 31200 block of North Route 45 got into a fight late Friday after the pair had been drinking.

Moran attacked the other resident with a knife, causing multiple minor cuts, sheriff’s investigators said.

The other resident did not want to be taken to a hospital for treatment, but Moran requested transport for injuries he suffered while being subdued, authorities said.

Felony charges against Moran later were approved.

He was scheduled appear at a detention hearing Monday, but that was postponed when the jail’s medical staff sent him back to the hospital for reevaluation, authorities said.
