Spread holiday cheer with CASA Kane County’s gift drive for kids in foster care
CASA Kane County, a nonprofit that advocates for children in the foster care system, is encouraging the community to participate its annual Holiday Giving Program.
This cherished initiative combines festive gift collections with critical fundraising efforts, aiming to bring joy to children in foster care and provide essential support throughout the year.
The Holiday Giving Program ensures that every child in the foster care system — served by CASA Kane County — receives a special gift during the holiday season.
It also serves as an opportunity for year-end giving, encouraging individuals and businesses to donate cash, gift cards, new items, or to organize collection drives. The mission is to make a meaningful difference for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and entered foster care.
Generous contributions come from local companies, community groups, service organizations, neighborhoods, families, friends, and individuals who want to make an impact.
CASA Kane County staff carefully collect and organize all donated items, creating a welcoming display for volunteers to select gifts for the children they serve. Many items are pre-wrapped by community groups and labeled with the child’s age and gender for easy distribution, while others are categorized for convenient selection.
Gifts include a wide variety of toys, games, puzzles, books, and items tailored for teenagers, ensuring every child’s needs and interests are met.
“The generosity of our community is truly heartwarming,” said Jim DiCiaula, CASA Kane County executive director. “Walking into this event, you can’t help but feel the magic of the holidays. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported this county-wide effort.”
Those interested in contributing items or hosting collection drives can contact Rose Dula at RoseD@casakanecounty.org. Please note that only new items can be accepted.
Monetary donations can be made securely through the 2024 Holiday Giving campaign page: secure.qgiv.com/for/holidaygivingevent.
Financial contributions also support essential needs, such as hygiene packs, safety equipment, and special experiences like birthday celebrations or driving lessons for older youth.
CASA Kane County believes that, together with community support, they can “Change a Child’s Story.”
Funds raised through the Holiday Giving Program play a vital role in ensuring that each of the 640-plus children served by CASA in 2024 has a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA volunteer) advocating for their needs.
Item and gift card donations help make their holidays a little brighter. CASA Kane County’s 200 active CASA/GAL volunteers serve as trusted adults who advocate for the best interests of each child, guiding them toward a safe and permanent home.
This holiday season, CASA Kane County invites you to be part of this transformative initiative. Your contribution, no matter the size, has the power to make a difference in the life of a child in foster care. Help us ensure their voices are heard and their holidays and futures are brighter.
