Good Shepherd’s Blue Christmas service offers a healing time for reflection

For many, the Christmas season is a time of joy and celebration. Yet for others, it can be a season that brings heartache and sorrow. Whether it’s the pain of loss, divorce, addiction, or estranged relationships, the holidays can highlight life’s challenges, leaving some feeling isolated amid the festivities.

Good Shepherd Church in Naperville invites individuals and families to attend its Blue Christmas Service, a special time of prayer, Christmas music, and reflection, designed to bring comfort and hope to those who find the holiday season difficult.

This service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, coinciding with the longest night of the year, symbolizing a journey from darkness into light.

“The holiday season can be a time of tension for many,” says Pastor Pamela Palmer of Good Shepherd Church. “We recognize the joyous anticipation of Jesus’ birth, but we also understand the deep pain that some carry into this season. This service is a safe space to acknowledge those sorrows and place them in Jesus’ care.”

The Blue Christmas service offers an opportunity to step away from the busyness of the season and find solace in a setting that embraces both the challenges and hope of the holidays.

Through reflective music, heartfelt prayer, and the message of Christ’s love, attendees will find a place where their pain is seen, their grief is honored, and their spirits can be renewed.

All are welcome to join this evening of healing and hope. Good Shepherd Church is located at 1310 Shepherd Drive. For information, visit gshepchurch.org or contact the church office at (630) 961-9220.

This Christmas, come as you are — bring your sorrows, and find comfort in the promise of Jesus’ unfailing love.
