Quilting Ministry celebrated at Elgin’s Holy Trinity Lutheran

On Dec. 1, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church celebrated its quilting ministry. Members prepare material, cut into squares, sew, and finish. Then they tie the batting on each quilt.

Quilting is the process of stitching together at least three layers of fabric. The stitches are based on a pattern or design.

Currently, we have created 110 quilts which are ready to ship to the developing nations served by Lutheran World Relief. This year, they have created 115 quilts.

The Holy Trinity Quilters meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on first, fourth, and fifth Tuesdays of the month in Lind Hall of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St. in Elgin. There also will be a nice coffee break. The group welcomes new members. Currently, there are 13 dedicated members.
