Mom warned us about what could happen

When we were very young, our moms taught us that if a man offered us candy to get in his car, we were not to do it. He was only tricking us and very bad things would happen if we got in. That was great advice, but as we got older, we seemed to have forgotten that warning.

Recently a convicted felon convinced us we weren’t safe and offered us candy (money) to join him in his car. We were feeling that our political party had ignored us, that food prices and mortgages were too high and this man said he would make us all richer. We knew he was a proven liar and bully, but that candy sure looked good and the more he talked, the more candy he said he’d give us.

Why did so many people switch their party alliance and decide to get in the car of a man who had done more illegal, unethical and immoral things than we would ever think of doing ourselves. Greed. A woman in one of the swing states told a reporter that she knew he was deeply flawed, but she had trouble making her household budget work, so she just held her nose and got in the car.

Millions of people did the same thing. The planet and even our country’s democracy didn’t matter. They wanted more candy.

Unfortunately, in every abduction, as soon as the car door closes, it is no longer about us, but instead it is all about the unhinged driver who needs to inflict pain on others and exercise his unending need for more power. Once he drives us to his new house, he will do unimaginable things and we will be at his mercy. Mom warned us about this.
