Messages of thanks

Recently, I was blessed by the kindness of two gentlemen and I would like to thank them publicly.

The first was Dave Wieder, a Daily Herald employee. Our grandson was selected as one of the Herald’s outstanding soccer defensemen. Because he lives in DuPage County, the information was not in the Palatine edition, which is delivered to our home. When I contacted the Herald to see if I might be able to secure copies of that edition, I was referred to Mr. Wieder. He immediately took the information and in a short time had secured copies for me. In addition to securing them from the archives, he kindly delivered them to my front porch.

The second occurred recently on an extremely windy day. I was exiting the Jewel grocery store in Hoffman Estates on Roselle Road. The wind was so strong and came in such strong gusts, that it nearly knocked me over. Suddenly, a young man appeared, offered me his arm and assisted me to my car. When I thanked him, he responded that he was a student at Harper College and was learning to help people like me. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. Hopefully he will see this letter and know how much I appreciated his assistance.

When I hear there is not much to be thankful for recently, one just has to know that kindness, caring and compassionate individuals are still here. I was blessed by two of them.
