Kane County Animal Control updates rabies tag fees

Starting Jan. 1, 2025, Kane County Animal Control will update its 1-year and 3-year rabies tag fees for non-neutered animals owned by individuals 65 years of age and older to $10.

This adjustment brings Kane County into compliance with Illinois state law, which mandates a minimum $10 difference between fees for neutered and non-neutered animals.

Kane County Animal Control remains committed to keeping tag fees affordable for seniors while adhering to state regulations.

The tags are free for seniors, age 65 or older with proof of age, for neutered animals or $10 for non-neutered animals.

The new tag fees are as follows:

The new 1-year tag fees are $15 for for neutered animals under 1 year of age or $40 for non-neutered. The 3-year tag fee is $35 for neutered animals under 1 year or $90 for non-neutered.

Kane County Animal Control has informed veterinarians across the county about the upcoming changes, enabling them to notify pet owners in advance.

Rabies tags can be purchased through veterinary clinics and animal hospitals throughout Kane County or directly from Kane County Animal Control at 4060 Keslinger Road, Geneva, IL 60134.
