Presentation focuses on the owls of Lake County and their roles in the ecosystem

Owls will be the topic of the Lake County Audubon Society’s meeting Monday, Dec. 2. Lake County is home to three owl species that are year-round residents — the great horned, barred and screech — as well as several others that visit during the cold weather months. Pam Otto, outreach ambassador for the naturalist department at the St. Charles Park District, will discuss these birds’ adaptations, their life histories and the roles they play in local ecosystems. Species profiles will include an Illinois owl success story. Those who can’t attend in person can join via Zoom. The meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Cook Memorial Library, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. For more information, visit lakecountyaudubon.org.
