Carol Stream tree lighting set for Dec. 6

Carol Stream will hold its tree lighting ceremony and other activities from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 6, outdoors at the Ross Ferraro Town Center, 960 N. Gary Ave.

The West Chicago Community High School choir will herald the arrival of Santa Claus to light the village tree at 6:05 p.m.

Dancers from the Carol Stream Park District will perform, and children may visit a petting zoo, take pictures with Santa, and enjoy storyboards illustrating Jan Brett’s children’s book, “The Mitten.”

The tree lighting celebration will include a s’mores station and hot cocoa, with cookies and a craft kit for children to take home.

There also will be a display of Brittany’s Trees, a fundraiser for the SADS Foundation in memory of 8-year-old Carol Stream resident Brittany Valene, who died in 2005 from a congenital heart defect. In 2023, Brittany’s Trees raised more than $40,000 for the SADS Foundation.
