Elgin man charged with recklessly shooting gun

An Elgin man has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, Elgin police announced Wednesday.

Jonathan Lopez, 21, of the 1100 block of Pegwood Drive, Elgin, is accused of firing a gun at Van Street and South Alfred Avenue around 8:50 p.m. Oct. 18 and a few minutes later in the 0-99 block of Warwick Place.

He was arrested on Nov. 23 and has been granted pretrial release.
