Man charged with attempted murder in Elgin

Elgin police announced Thursday that a man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in a Nov. 12 shooting.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jose G. Ramos, 26, of the 300 block of Silver Street in Elgin.

Ramos also is charged with aggravated battery, possession of a gun by a street gang member, possession of a gun by a felon on parole and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said.

Police responded at 1:46 p.m. that day to the 400 block of Douglas Avenue for a report of a shooting, and they found an injured man.
