Elgin Deanery Council of Catholic Women installs new officers

The Elgin Deanery Council of Catholic Women held its annual Pre-Advent evening of prayer at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in West Dundee on Nov. 19.

The evening included an installation ceremony of the 2025-26 officers, which include: Jeannine Hoffman of St. Catherine of Siena parish, president; Linda Meyer of St. Laurence parish in Elgin, vice president; Patricia Small of St. Catherine of Siena parish, secretary; and Marilyn Tynor of St. Catherine of Siena parish, treasurer.

After the installation of officers, Father Matthew Camaioni, parochial vicar of St. Catherine of Siena parish and the council’s spiritual advisor, presented an inspirational talk on being a Catholic and preparing for the Advent season.

The Elgin Deanery Council of Catholic Women is a member of the Rockford Diocesan Council of Catholic Women with its purpose to promote friendships and better understanding among the women of the Elgin Deanery. It is composed of the nine parishes within the Elgin Deanery in Carpentersville, Elgin, Gilberts, St. Charles, and West Dundee. All women in these parishes are welcomed and encouraged to join the council, which meets six times a year. Its mission is to focus on projects to fulfill community needs.

The types of projects members are involved with include: providing Order of Christian Initiation of Adults gifts to all new candidates into the Catholic faith at all nine parishes; school supplies; toiletries to the women shelters; and hosting a “Sister’s Luncheon” for current and retired religious sisters.
