Chamber Music on the Fox brings celebration of Baroque music to St. Charles
Chamber Music on the Fox continues its 11th season with a special event, “Chamber Music on the Fox Goes Baroque!” on Monday, Nov. 25. The concert will feature pieces which define the musical brilliance and ornate beauty of the Baroque period.
Cellist Sara Sitzer, bass trombonist Mark Fry, flutist Scott Metlicka, violinist Eric Pidluski, bassist Jeremy Attanaseo, and others will bring to life J.S. Bach’s sparkling Brandenburg Concerto No. 5.
Soprano Kathleen Monson joins the ensemble on Handel’s stunning “Gloria in Excelsis Deo.”
Performed in the Gothic-style Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, this concert will transport audiences in an enthralling, historically-inspired evening of music.
“Baroque music is like the champagne of the classical world. It’s light, bubbly, and exuberant, and it exudes warmth and beauty in a way that’s utterly unique,” said Sara Sitzer, a concert cellist and Chamber Music on the Fox co-founder. “I’m particularly excited to perform Bach’s Brandenburg No. 5, a piece I’ve always dreamed of playing but have never had the opportunity! The lively interplay between the instruments sparkles with such joy and playfulness, and I know I’ll have a hard time keeping from grinning throughout the performance!”
The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Ave. in downtown St. Charles. Tickets are $25 or $15 for students.
Tickets can be purchased at chambermusiconthefox.org.
