Winterfest in Hoffman Estates to include sleigh rides, games, sled dog adoptions

The Hoffman Estates Park District invites families and community members to experience Winterfest, a celebration of the winter season, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club, 1400 Poplar Creek Drive.

This free, family-friendly event welcomes all ages to enjoy a festive day filled with seasonal activities and local entertainment.

Winterfest brings the holiday spirit to life in a vibrant celebration packed with engaging activities for all ages. Both kids and parents can test their luck with games like snowman knockdown, penguin bowling, frosty snowball toss, and Santa buckets. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Holiday decorators can get creative with seasonal treats at the cookie-making station.

Dog lovers will especially enjoy the dog sled training exercises and mushing demonstrations. Afterward, attendees have the opportunity to adopt a sled dog.

Other highlights include an ice-less skate rink, community vendors, a cozy campfire to toast s’mores, and a sleigh ride, where the Schaumburg Township District Library will read holiday stories.

“Winterfest is a great kick-off to the holiday season,” said Karrie Miletic, director of recreation at HEParks. “The sleigh ride will be especially memorable for families and friends.”

Winterfest is free and no registration is required. For details, visit heparks.org.
