New Glen Ellyn art exhibit celebrates ‘History of Home’

A new exhibit at the Glen Ellyn History Center highlights portrait painter Sheldon Peck and two other artists.

Isabelle Etheridge curated the exhibit, “History of Home: Portraiture, Still Life, and Landscapes,” open all this month at the history center next to Forest Glen Elementary.

The exhibit explores three artists from the Glen Ellyn Historical Society collection: Peck, an abolitionist whose homestead still stands in Lombard, Ada Harmon, and Davis Gray.

The artists, “through their efforts to preserve the history of the community and appreciate the past, create a space for people to reflect on how a town can evolve and change over time,” according to an exhibit description.

The History Center is at 800 N. Main St. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is free. For details, call (630) 469-1867 or visit the website at gehs.org.
