Hoffman Estates to light Friendship Tree at ceremony on Nov. 23

Hoffman Estates’ annual Friendship Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 in front of the main entrance of village hall at 1900 Hassell Road.

Mayor Bill McLeod and the village trustees will be joined by Cub Scout Packs 297 and 100 to light the tree and kick off a festive fireworks display.

Following the fireworks, Santa will arrive by fire truck to visit with children. Light refreshments will follow as participants gather inside.

Each year, the large, living pine tree outside of village hall is adorned with lights and more than 700 red bows. The growing tree serves as a reminder of the community’s continuing commitment to friendship and the environment. The lights at village hall remain lit throughout the winter season.

Nonperishable goods and personal toiletry items donations will be accepted for area food pantries during this event. For information on food pantries serving Hoffman Estates residents, visit hoffmanestates.org/foodpantry.
