Religion and values
Martha Messer’s letter talked about going back to the Judeo-Christian values and later about God. This is going to make the country better. According to Pew Research, there are eight different Christian religions in Illinois. One Jewish religion in Illinois. Five other religions. I’m a quarter Cherokee. I don’t fall under Ms. Messer’s classifications.
As has been argued many times, this country was not based on Judeo-Christian values. There are a variety of directions that Americans, including atheists, agnostics and others that we could follow that would make America better and have nothing to do with religion. There are some who lead this country that are the epitome of the values we do not want. Religion has nothing to do with a person’s values.
