Aurora breaks ground on new fire station

Aurora broke ground Wednesday on a new fire station on the city's northeast side.

Fire Station #13 will be at the intersection of Bilter Road and Nan Street. The approximately 20,000-square-foot station will include an apparatus bay, office space, bunk space, kitchen, and fitness room.

City officials say the new station will cut response time in the area in half, with the immediate response area including residential communities and business corridors like the Chicago Premium Outlets Mall and developments along Farnsworth Avenue and Bilter Road.
