Pottawatomie Garden Club elects new officers

The Pottawatomie Garden Club, which recently finished its 2024 season, is planning ahead for next year.

New officers for 2025 have been installed and they will be working hard throughout the winter planning for the garden walk in June and the club’s 100th anniversary to be celebrated next summer.

The new officers are: president, Connie Unger; treasurer, Jackie Docimo; vice president, Deb Schmalholz; immediate past president, Linda Hefferin; corresponding secretary, Kelly Potts; and recording secretary, Heidi Dahl.

The club, founded in 1928, meets on the fourth Monday of the month, from March though October.

Club members plant flowers on the Main Street and Illinois bridges, and around the municipal building each spring and fall. They also honor past members with the Memorial Tree Program. A Landscape Commendation Award is given each year to businesses in the St. Charles Township.

Each year, the club awards annual scholarships to horticulture students and provides support to gardening and environmental projects in the community.
