Belief in democracy

I am an independent, moderate, retired, middle-class voter. I believe in the separation of church and state. I don’t believe in the extreme right or extreme left. I voted for V.P. Harris. I could not vote for a buffoon, narcissistic, lying, schoolyard bully, morals-less individual like Trump.

I believe in our democracy and the voting process. I accept 2024’s elections result just like all previous presidential elections. Just because the candidate I voted for lost, I don’t riot, pout, deny, yell cheater or make up conspiracy stories. True believers in democracy don’t storm the Capitol and sabotage the election certification process. I believe in our country for the long term. It has faced some rough storms during the past 248 years.

Fifty-one percent of our citizens elected this vile individual as our president and that is their right. That is how the process works. No one says you have to be happy, just accept it.

I just can’t join the MAGA crowd and drink Trump’s kool-aide. Remember what always happens to cults. They don’t last. Once some MAGA followers learn that Trump won’t deliver on all his very, very, so very, beautiful, really something very special, like we have never seen before promises, they will wake up.

I figure it only takes 1% of his base per four years to wake up and that brings the numbers down to 47%. I believe it will go down even much, much more with the likes of Vance, DeSantis, Jordan, Gaetz, Greene etc. As to January’s presidential inauguration, I won’t watch it, but I might throw an Inauguration Party.

Instead, we will watch something like Duck Soup or Caddyshack or Weekend at Bernie’s. Always country over party. America, godspeed.
