Fire damages Hoffman Estates home, garage

An outside fire between a home and a detached garage in Hoffman Estates early Saturday morning caused an estimated $20,000 in damages.
About 4:53 a.m. Saturday Hoffman Estates firefighters responded to a fire on the 500 block of Newark Lane.
Officials said firefighters found a large fire impinging on at least one of the structures.
The response brought 23 firefighters and other department personnel to the scene.
Schaumburg and Streamwood fire departments, Hoffman Estates police, ComEd and Nicor also responded to the scene.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
