Wego Drama’s ‘SIX the Musical: Teen Edition’ re-tells the story of Henry VIII’s wives

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues their 2024-25 theatrical season with the empowering new musical “SIX The Musical: Teen Edition” on Nov. 15-16.

This new musical about the six wives of Henry the Eighth weaves together the ideas of history with fresh and modern music. This modern musical is one that the audience will love.

The Wego Drama season theme of “Love, Theatre” is perfect for this story. Performances will be 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet St.

The story is told through a rock concert. Through energetic performances and beautiful tech effects powerful ideas about women come alive.

Newcomer Calysta Sokolwicz states, “Being a part of this show really makes me happy. I am proud of the work we are doing and I am so excited to perform it.”

The company is working incredibly hard to bring the show to life for the audience.

Junior Ja’Nyah Villa states, “I dedicate my blood sweat and tears with this (company).”

Sophomore Elisa O’Brien adds “(It is) amazing being a part of this girl group.” Senior Sentia Irakoze concludes, “For 70 minutes I get to be an absolute monarch.”

“Six” is a Broadway phenomenon that was created by the amazing Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss. This “Teen Edition” is one that will blow the audience away.

The company of actors and crew for the show includes from Carol Stream: Ava Bloniarz, Calysta Sokolwicz, and William Wenberg; from West Chicago: Abigail Ballard, Ryleigh Balo, Tyler Benton, Wil Cooper, Gianna Branly, Pamela Cruz, Kaycee Dy, Sentia Irakoze, Ramiah McElroy, Elisa O’Brien, Dayanna Paramo, Oliver Ruiz, Gabriel Valenzuela, Ja’Nyah Villa, Mary Wagner, and Dayan Zenteno; and from Winfield: Natalia Bellosa, Bo Dragosh, and Mariah Varnado.

The play is directed by Mark Begovich with technical direction and design by Christopher Jensen. Music direction is by Brandon Fantozzi with choreography by Lora Vodicka. Hair and makeup are by Jaime Elza and Sam Rebmann.

“SIX The Musical: Teen Edition” is produced by arrangement with Concord Theatricals, New York, N.Y.
