The solution ignored

I must be a knucklehead. Even with 25 years of college which includes two master’s degrees and a doctorate, I must certainly not get it. All I see on the news is how many innocent civilians in Gaza and Lebanon that Israel is responsible for destroying their homes, their hospitals, their schools or their lives. In my naivete I would think that if Hamas would just release their 100 or so hostages, this would all end. But this is never mentioned in any news source, so it must not be a required responsible action necessary to end the fighting. I guess the drastic, horrible statistics are more relevant to report.
