Elgin Symphony Woodwind Trio to perform Nov. 17 at St. Charles library
The St. Charles Public Library continues its Sunday Concert Series with a special performance by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Trio on Sunday, Nov. 17. The concert will feature Scott Metlicka, Joshua Fleming, and Patrick Rehker.
The trio will perform “Concert Champetre” by Henri Tomasi; Trio, Opus 61 by Francois Devienne; Trio #1 by Charles Huguenin; Trio for Flute, Clarinet and Bassoon, written in 1995 by Evanston composer Donald Draganski; and “Spider Suite” by Jenni Brandon.
This community partnership will allow the library to plan more incredible performances throughout the year and foster an appreciation for symphonic music within the community.
The concert will begin at 2 p.m. in the Carnegie Community Room on the upper floor of the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.
This event is part of the library’s Sunday Concert Series, featuring a wide variety of music performances. This performance is funded through donations to the St. Charles Public Library Foundation.
The concert schedule continues on Dec. 8 with the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra Hanson String Quartet. It was added to the EYSO Chamber Music Institute in 2010 and is named for EYSO’s founding conductor Robert Hanson.
On Jan. 5, it will be the Alba Quartet (flute, violin, viola, cello) performing a program of the music of Mozart and his contemporaries interspersed with fun facts about the man and his life.
On Jan. 19, it will be “Back to the Future ’70s Style” with Gavin Coyle, Carlyn Lloyd, and Jon Warfel. Take a trip to the ’70s featuring music of James Taylor, Seals and Crofts, Chicago, Elton John and many others. Grab your bell bottoms!
