Friends of the AHML support the library's Makerplace

The Friends of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library (AHML) support The Makerplace.

The AHML Makerplace, at 112 N. Belmont Ave., near Recreation Park, fosters creativity and innovation through making in a collaborative environment.

The laser cutter has been an integral part of the Makerplace, used by customers to create intricate designs, custom engravings and precise cuts for various projects. Over a 12-month period, the laser cutter was used approximately 900 times, making it one of the most heavily used pieces of equipment. However, due to high usage and age, the laser cutter began to fail and needed replacement.

The Friends of the Library recently funded the purchase of an Epilog Fusion Edge Laser. The new laser cutter was installed in July 2024, and is available to library cardholders.
