District 62 victim of attempted fraud, police say

Someone tried to cash three fraudulent Des Plaines School District 62 checks, police announced Friday.

Each check was for $1,000, a police spokesperson said. The information on the checks had been forged, he said.

District payment procedures prevented money from being paid out.

The crime was reported Wednesday afternoon.

No information was available about the person who forged the checks.
