SALUTE Inc. Hosts Veterans Event and Display at Arlington Heights Memorial Library
Local nonprofit SALUTE Inc. is working with the Arlington Heights Memorial Library to sponsor a display that honors local veterans. Visitors can stop by the library on Monday, Nov. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and use the provided art supplies to make a suncatcher to celebrate veterans they know.
The suncatchers will be decorated in the colors of the military branch in which the veteran served. All art supplies as well as a guide to the military branch colors will be provided. If they would like, participants can bring in a photo of a veteran in their life and attach it to the suncatcher. The suncatchers will then be displayed in the library windows on Dunton Avenue for the remainder of November.
“SALUTE is a national organization that serves veterans across the country, but our roots are here in Arlington Heights,” said SALUTE, INC. Executive Director Mary Beth Beiersdorf. “This is where we got started with our 5K/10K races, and we are thrilled to once again be partnering with the Arlington Heights Memorial Library to honor veterans right here in our community.”
The library and SALUTE have a long history of teaming up to support local veterans. Last November, SALUTE sponsored a number of events at the library as well as a veterans tree, and in 2021, the organization helped bring the Portrait of a Soldier exhibit to the library.
