Arlington Heights offers students the opportunity to earn extra money this winter by assisting local residents

This winter, students in Arlington Heights have an opportunity to make extra cash and help their community by shoveling driveways and sidewalks for older adults and residents with disabilities. This initiative offers a flexible and rewarding way for local students to work outdoors, stay active, and make a difference in their neighborhoods.

Through this program, students can apply to be on a trusted list that the village of Arlington Heights will share with residents in need of assistance. The list provides each student’s name, contact information and the school they attend, making it easy for residents to find students located nearby. It’s up to each resident to contact a student to discuss availability, frequency and rate of pay that suit both parties.

“This program is a great way for students to build responsibility, engage with their community and provide meaningful help to those who need it,” village of Arlington Heights Youth Commission Chairperson Alice Son said. “We hope that many students will take advantage of this opportunity.”

How It Works:

• Students Apply: Students interested in shoveling apply to be on the official list. Students Click here to apply. form.jotform.com/241834585702056.

• List Shared with Residents: The Village of Arlington Heights distributes the list to registered older adults and residents with disabilities. To apply, residents can visit form.jotform.com/241834426475057.

• Residents Contact Students Directly: Residents reach out to students to set up services, including frequency and payment terms.

The program runs throughout the winter months, with flexible scheduling based on each student’s availability. It’s a chance for students to earn extra money while providing valuable assistance to neighbors.
