A dictator?

I read with great dismay the letter titled “The prospect of a dictator” which appeared in the Oct. 5 edition. Dismayed because it is hard to believe that any one is willing to spew this kind of garbage in a public forum. It begins by saying that on Day One of Trump’s reelection, he will declare himself a dictator.

Then:

  1. As dictator he will immediately “declare the U.S. Constitution suspended or abolished or null and void from this moment on.”
  2. He will not be sworn in since there is no longer a Constitution
  3. He declares himself dictator for life
  4. He abolishes the Supreme Court, the Congress, the FBI, all the other Federal agencies, bureaus, etc.
  5. He orders the military to do his bidding, to protect him, to keep out of federal property employees of the now-extinct branches.

There is more but this conveys the reasons for dismay. How could any one believe this kind of stuff? I kept looking for evidence that it was being written in levity, but found nothing to suggest such. The final sentence was a question “How do you challenge a dictator?”. The real question is why would any one write this stuff?
