Palatine police investigate parking lot shooting

A 29-year-old man was injured Friday in a shooting in a Palatine parking lot.

According to authorities, police responded to the 1500 block of N. Rand Road at 8:42 p.m. for a report of shots fired and a person shot.

Early investigation shows that the man and a female passenger were driving through a parking lot in the 1200 block of E. Dundee Road when he was shot in the back of his neck, authorities said in a news release. The man then drove to a parking lot in the 1500 block of N. Rand Road where police located him.

Police believe the shooting may be gang related. The shooting victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A police investigation is ongoing.
