Motorcyclist charged with reckless driving following crash in downtown Barrington

A 20-year-old Mundelein man was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital with minor injuries after crashing his motorcycle into another vehicle while attempting to pass a line of cars in downtown Barrington Monday evening, police said.

German De La Torre Robles was released from the hospital and has received three citations — for reckless driving, driving without proof of insurance and driving with no registration plate on the vehicle.

Police said Robles was headed north on Hough Street at about 5:20 p.m. and in a line of vehicles when he tried to pass the waiting vehicles by driving in the southbound lane on the wrong side of the street.

Witnesses reported Robles was speeding when he drove into the side of a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon turning left onto Coolidge Avenue from northbound Hough.

The driver of the Mercedes was unhurt, police said.

Robles is scheduled to appear in a Rolling Meadows courtroom Nov. 12.
