After 11 days missing, body of County Club Hills woman with dementia found a few miles from her home

The body of a missing Country Club Hills woman was found Saturday in a wooded area near Flossmoor Road and Central Avenue a few miles from her south suburban home.

Yolanda Howell, 78, had dementia and had been missing for 11 days. Ring camera footage confirms she was last seen Oct. 8.

Local police and other agencies had been looking for her the past week. Country Club Hills police received an anonymous tip she had been walking in the area the night before.

Relatives said it was a police officer searching for Howell who found her body in the wooded area, according to ABC 7 Chicago. The discovery was made around 9:30 a.m.

“We followed up last night but were met with negative results, so first thing this morning, we also followed up with our drone unit and also on foot,” County Club Hills police Chief Michael Wilson said.

Howell’s daughter, Claudette Edwards, thanked everyone for their help and prayers.
