Batavia police detain woman after reports of shooting Sunday night

Batavia police have detained a woman they believe was involved in a shooting Sunday night on the 300 block of Randall Road.

Police said they received a report of shots fired just after 8 p.m., with witnesses reported a man and woman arguing before the gunfire erupted. The pair fled in a vehicle, according to witness reports

When police arrived they were able to locate evidence of gunfire and then found a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle nearby.

Officers interviewed a woman that witnesses said was involved in the incident and recovered a firearm. The woman was detained for further investigation, police said.

No charges have been filed yet. The investigation is ongoing.
