Aurora man gets 24 years for rape

An Aurora man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for rape.

Darryl Holman, 51, must serve at least 85% of the sentence before being eligible for parole. He has been in custody since October 2021. However, he received only 24 days credit because this sentence must be served consecutive to a prior case.

He will have to register for life as a sex offender.

A jury found him guilty on Aug. 28 of aggravated sexual abuse. Kane County Judge Bianca Camargo sentenced him on Oct. 18.

The attack happened in July 2021 in Aurora, and Holman was charged in October 2021.

The news release said he used force to assault the victim, causing injury.
