SALUTE Inc. selected as Charity Partner for Village of Rosemont’s Holiday Nutcracker event
The Village of Rosemont recently announced that SALUTE, INC. will be the charity partner for its second annual display of hand-painted nutcrackers. This public art project aims to support the local art community, raise awareness of local businesses, help a local charity, and promote the “Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet” production. As part of the project, SALUTE will receive a $20,000 donation from the Village.
“The Village of Rosemont has been a longtime supporter of SALUTE, and we have loved hosting many events in Rosemont over the years, including our annual micro marathon,” said SALUTE, INC. Executive Director Mary Beth Beiersdorf. “We are so grateful to have been chosen as the charity partner for this event and can promise that these funds will go a long way in helping our veterans get back on their feet.”
SALUTE, INC. is a Palatine-based nonprofit dedicated to meeting the financial, physical, and emotional needs of injured military service members, veterans, and their families. SALUTE provides short-term financial assistance to cover rent or mortgage expenses, utility bills, car expenses, or groceries.
As part of the project, life-size nutcrackers will be designed and painted by 17 different student groups from local high school art programs, who will be mentored by their teachers and professional artists. Rosemont residents and visitors can then view the nutcrackers, which will be display at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center from Nov. 22 through Dec. 1 during the Sports Spectacular, Muscle Car, and Jurassic Quest shows and then at the Rosemont Theatre for the Nutcracker Magical Christmas Ballet on December 8.
