Fire leaves Mettawa home uninhabitable

A house fire in Mettawa late Thursday morning resulted in no injuries, but did leave the home uninhabitable, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District officials said.

The residents of the single-family, ranch-style home were able to escape prior to firefighters arriving after they received the call just before 11:50 a.m.

No hydrants were near the home on the 25000 block of St. Mary’s Road in Mettawa, making it difficult for firefighters to combat the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
