Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election for the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you? If so, what?
I am running in County Board District 5. The seat is currently held by a Democrat and would be a pick-up for Republicans in McHenry County. My opponent is a progressive Democrat and activist who would have the county board focused on issues that have nothing to do with county governance but instead focuses on issues that divide us. My agenda is honest government, fiscal responsibility, and the maintenance of our infrastructure so that our county can continue to spawn economic growth.
If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of any important initiatives you've led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the board and what would your priority be?
My priority would be to represent all voices in District 5. Maintaining safety, infrastructure and fiscally responsible with our taxes. Additionally, further discussions around the farming communities and how to prioritize their needs.
Describe your position regarding the balance between county spending and revenues as it exists today, then describe the chief threats you see looming in the future and how the county should deal with them.
The goal would be to bring back the monies lost in our ICE contract. The chief threat is legislation that blocks the county board from doing what’s best for the community.
Does there need to be more bipartisanship and cooperation on the county board? If yes, what would you do to help make that happen?
Yes. We have to have reasonable, goal oriented conversations while staying focused on policies instead of socialtopics, which have nonsensical consequences and wasted time for all involved.
What role should the county play in combating the opioid crisis?
We must take a strong stance on handling the situation with a logical and sustainable approach. Furthermore, providing those who suffer from substance abuse safe treatments for recovery. Simultaneously, provide prevention education for all people
What role should the county play in increasing affordable housing in the region?
We need to focus on what’s fiscally responsible and provide appropriately for that sector of residents.
