St. Charles library to host ‘Kiddieland Remembered’

From 1929 to 2009, Kiddeland in Melrose Park was Chicago’s favorite and one of the last family-owned amusement parks in the country. Take a trip back in time at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the St. Charles Public Library as historian Cheryl Brown revisits the 80-year history of the park with vintage photographs.

Re-experience the park through videos of the park on a busy summer day. You’ll learn about the final auction of the rides, why the park closed, and where the rides are today.

Brown is a historian and retired professor of business and computer applications at Oakton College. Her passion for remembering Kiddieland has brought her to keep the memories alive. Brown’s presentation includes a display table of original Kiddieland memorabilia.

To register, visit scpld.org or call (630) 584-0076. The St. Charles Public Library is located at One South Sixth Avenue in St. Charles.
