Springbrook Golf Course hosts Fall Scramble

On Saturday, Oct. 12, area golfers gathered at Springbrook Golf Course in Naperville to compete in the 2024 Fall Scramble. This is the penultimate golfing event of the 2024 Brooks Tournament Series, presented by Woody Buick GMC.

This year’s Fall Scramble had a record number of participants with 33 foursomes.

Throughout the 18-hole tournament, the best shot from each four-person team member was selected as the recorded shot for each hole.

The winning team was comprised of Bryan Spaits, Dave Lucke, Greg Hawes, and Jim Jareczek with a final score of 59. There was a four-way tie for second place with a score of 62. Full results can be viewed at golfnaperville.org.

“The weather was perfect and allowed for some really low scores,” said Michael Lyzun, head golf professional at Springbrook Golf Course. “The winning score of 59 is the lowest winning score on record, beating the previous best of 60.”

Another exciting highlight came from Bill Wilson, an 80-year-old participant in the tournament, when he sunk a hole-in-one on Hole No. 17. It was Wilson’s first ever ace, and he helped his team finish with a score of 66.

The final event of the 2024 Brooks Tournament Series is the Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Naperbrook Golf Course and Sunday, Nov. 24, at Springbrook Golf Course.

Registration for both events will be a lottery system, and the lottery will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Naperbrook. To view full details about the registration lottery process, visit golfnaperville.org/event/turkey-shoot-2024/.
