Monthly Dementia Caregiver Support Group starts Nov. 12

Caregiving can be a lonely and difficult road to navigate. To continue the journey and not feel alone, there is help with tools and tips for those who need support to cope.

The Atrium at Oak Crest, 204 S. State St. in Elgin, will host a monthly dementia caregiver support group on the second Tuesday of every month starting Nov. 12 from noon to 1 p.m.

The support group will be facilitated by LaVon Lenaway, founder and owner of Dragonfly Senior Navigation Services LLC. She is a gerentologist, educator and consultant with over 24 years of experience in advocacy, dementia care, and education.

“If you or someone you know is caring for someone with a memory impairment, cognitive challenges, or a dementia diagnosis, we invite you to join our support group,” said Susan Cincinelli, executive director, The Atrium at Oak Crest. “We are fortunate to have the guidance of LaVon who is an expert at helping with the issues that caregivers face every moment with humor and warmth, and important resources for all caregivers.”

The monthly dementia caregiver support group is sponsored by Traditions Health and Northwest Home Health & Rehab and The Atrium at Oak Crest. Light refreshments will be served.

For more information and to RSVP, contact Susan Cincinelli at (847) 742-2255.
