State’s attorney gets results

As a Lake County resident, I am thankful Eric Rinehart is Lake County’s state’s attorney. He’s worked tirelessly since being elected in 2020 and the results reflect that: data shows that crime has decreased and more sex offenders, drug dealers and domestic batterers are being held in jail rather than posting cash bail, thanks to his backing of the SAFE-T Act (Pretrial Fairness Act).

He established the Violent Crimes Unit with experienced prosecutors who support the police. In addition, Rinehart’s office secured a $1 million grant to fight human trafficking in Lake County and built the first-ever Gun Violence Prevention Initiative, which addresses the root causes of violence and works with at-risk youth.

And, the Living Room Wellness Deflection program was created to prevent crime by treating those who suffer from mental health crises and substance abuse disorders. Consumers and taxpayers will also benefit from Rinehart’s lawsuit against insulin manufacturers who artificially increase prices.
