Garage destroyed in Elgin fire
Elgin fire officials are investigating a blaze that destroyed a detached garage Sunday night.
The Elgin Fire Department said crews called at about 7:30 p.m. to a fire in the 700 block of Parkway Avenue arrived to finda fully involved detached garage.
Firefighters were able to quickly bring the blaze under control before it spread to two adjacent garages and a house, but the garage where the fire started was declared a total loss.
No injuries were reported, and the residents were able to stay in their home, which sustained minor damage.
The fire is under investigation by the EFD Fire Investigation Team. Preliminary reports suggest the fire was accidental, with damages estimated at more than $40,000.
