Only one choice

While I totally agree with the editorial board’s choice of Kamala Harris for president, I would have made it an unqualified endorsement, without reservation. She is the only choice.

You devoted three paragraphs to why you could not support Donald Trump. All you needed to write was he refused to follow the example of his 44 predecessors and accept the peaceful transfer of power, even after every challenge to the results of the 2020 election were judged to be unfounded. Regardless if he is ever convicted of all the crimes for which he has been indicted, his promotion of the Big Lie for almost four years has done immense damage to our democracy.

You wrote that Vice President Harris has had “five months” since she replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate, but she has had less than three months since Biden dropped out on July 21. However, she has had three decades of public service that can be reviewed by voters, and she is the only candidate for president in our history to have experience in the judicial, legislative and executive branches of government.
