Inflation ‘blame’

I wholeheartedly agree with Richard Murdock’s letter headlined “Simple inflation.” Since inflation and cost of living are leading concerns today and key election issues, particularly with the Republicans blaming the Biden/Harris administration, I would like to add a couple clarifying points.

While the root cause was COVID and the resulting government printing of money along with supply chain disruptions and shortages, leading to supply/demand-driven price increases, remember that COVID afflicted both the Trump and Biden administrations and each printed about the same $2 trillion into the economy. So, the inflation and cost increases are fundamentally circumstantial due to COVID as well as the result of both administrations’ (necessary) fiscal actions.

Biden is not singularly to blame, in fact it isn’t really a “blame” situation.
