Chicago’s ‘Wrestling Rabbi’ hosts third annual Halloween show
The event at Durty Nellie’s on Sunday, Oct. 20 brings together an all-ages community, promoting inclusivity and excitement around the sport.
Wrestling fans in the Chicago area have a new event to get excited about.
On Sunday, Oct. 20, 2econd Wrestling will launch its third annual Halloween-themed show at Durty Nellie’s, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine, starting at 3 p.m., with doors open at 2 p.m.
This all-ages event, founded by Rabbi Jeremy Fine, features some of the top independent wrestlers from around the world, including a diverse lineup of talent with a unique blend of backgrounds — ranging from schoolteachers and clergy to retired WWE professionals. With one-third of the performers being female, 2econd Wrestling prides itself on promoting inclusivity in the sport.
2econd Wrestling is more than just a competition. Each match tells a story, with narratives crafted to engage even the youngest fans. These story arcs run throughout the event, offering a mix of drama and excitement. For example, one storyline follows a wrestler’s journey as he battles through various challenges to earn a shot at the championship belt.
Rabbi Fine created 2econd Wrestling with the goal of building a community around the sport, offering family-friendly entertainment for all ages.
“My vision for 2econd Wrestling was to create an affordable and entertaining experience for families,” said Fine. “Time spent with loved ones is the greatest gift we can give, and 2econd Wrestling is here to help make that possible.”
With more than 14 years of experience as a rabbi, Fine believes that clergy should embrace passions beyond their profession. For him, wrestling fulfills that purpose, and he hopes these events will help foster family bonding and community spirit.
