Race to the finish: Make fall memories at Naperville Pumpkin Race
Witness fall fun and creativity at its finest when decorated pumpkin racers compete at the annual Naperville Pumpkin Race.
Participants will bring their decked-out pumpkins to Rotary Park in downtown Naperville on Saturday, Oct. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. to battle head-to-head for the coveted Pumpkin Race Championship Trophy.
Hosted by Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, the event will also feature prizes for best decorations and best costume. Activities throughout the event include a bubble show by Glowby the Bubbler, face painting, hot dogs and more.
“People get creative with pumpkin decorations,” said Barb Brauer, Advancement Director for Turning Pointe Autism Foundation. “We've seen superheroes, Halloween themes, race-inspired designs, and more. The sky's the limit! If you have a pre-decorated pumpkin, we'll have a pit row crew to help you assemble your racer.”
Brauer said the race originated to support Turning Pointe’s adult students by having them assemble and sell pumpkin race kit. Last year, Turning Pointe sold and shipped more than 600 kits nationwide. Admission to the race is free, with kits available to purchase for $25. Kits may be purchased at the race or online.
“This is a heartwarming celebration of community, where everyone is welcome and appreciated, regardless of age or ability,” Brauer said. “It's a wonderful opportunity to connect, create lasting memories and foster a sense of belonging and support for those in the community that need it most.”
Gerald Auto Group is among the sponsors making this cherished fall event possible.
“We're incredibly grateful for Gerald Auto Group's support of our Pumpkin Race since 2021,” Brauer said. Their continued sponsorship is a testament to their commitment to the community and our mission. We’re truly honored to have Gerald Auto Group as a partner.”
Gerald Auto Group also feels honored to sponsor the annual Pumpkin Race.
“Gerald Auto Group is delighted to support this fantastic event that brings our community together while supporting such an important cause,” said Donna Lawler of the Gerald Auto Group. “We are excited to celebrate creativity and inclusion, and we look forward to seeing all the amazing pumpkin racers!”
