Endorsement: Illinois House, District 43 Anna Moeller
State Rep. Anna Moeller speaks passionately about a wide range of issues she has worked on over the past decade in the Illinois House.
An Elgin Democrat representing the 43rd District since 2014, Moeller’s record includes passing the insurance-related Healthcare Protection Act and nursing home reform, as well as a bill addressing pay equity. She was one of 19 Democrats who helped oust powerful former House Speaker Michael Madigan — now on trial on bribery and racketeering charges — from his leadership post in 2021.
But Moeller doesn’t just look back. She is realistic and knowledgeable about the financial challenges ahead for the state as a whole and the looming “fiscal cliff” for mass transit.
Her opponent, Republican Donald Puckett, did not respond to repeated inquiries about participating in interviews and did not fill out a candidate questionnaire. His campaign website contains no policy plans or positions other than a broadly stated desire to cut taxes and reduce government control, but he shares no details on how he plans to do so.
Voters of the 43rd District deserve far more transparency from their candidates. They get that, plus the knowledge and experience needed in the position, from Moeller. She receives our strong endorsement.
